Dr. Krista Mieze – certified psychiatrist, PhD candidate.

Dr. K. Mieze obtained her medical degree from Riga Stradiņš University and completed her psychiatry training at the RSU Faculty of Residency Studies. She is currently a PhD candidate in the Clinical Medicine doctoral program at RSU, while also sharing her knowledge with students as a lecturer at the RSU Department of Psychiatry and Narcology. As part of her dissertation research, she continues to study suicidal behavior in Latvia. Her clinical experience includes working as an outpatient psychiatrist at the Riga Centre of Psychiatry and Narcology.

She has a particular interest in women's psycho-emotional health during pregnancy and the postpartum period and has previously worked as a psychiatric consultant at Riga Maternity Hospital. Dr. K. Mieze believes that the psychiatrist's most important tool is an empathetic, respectful, and non-judgmental conversation.

"If our life story is written by unresolved problems, we are not its authors; we merely record a continuation of the past, which often unconsciously intrudes upon our present experiences and shapes the direction of our future."

— Prof. Daniel J. Siegel, psychiatrist
