Dr. Oļegs Plesunovs is a physician-psychotherapist at the RSU Clinic of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy.

He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Riga Stradiņš University in 2008 with a medical degree and obtained his specialization in psychotherapy in 2012.

With over 14 years of clinical experience, he began his work at the RSU department on Grēcinieku Street and later continued at the RSU Psychosomatics Clinic. Since 2009, he has also been a lecturer at the RSU Department of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy.

Dr. Plesunovs believes that starting psychotherapy requires a willingness to look at oneself honestly and the ability to trust another person. A fundamental sense of security, independence, and a healthy self-image are common challenges for every patient in therapy. By achieving these goals, individuals can unlock and develop their unique, creative potential, shape their relationships and life, find meaning, and learn to enjoy it.

A therapist can become a supportive figure, even resembling a good friend or parental figure, while maintaining the professional boundaries of the therapeutic setting. Gaining positive experiences in therapy allows individuals to share them with others.

Methods of Practice:

  • Individual psychodynamic and psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy for adults and adolescents

  • Psychopharmacotherapy

"When we realize that someone out there thinks and feels with us, that someone—though distant—is a kindred spirit, the world becomes a splendid garden."
